Carrie Martin: My first career was as a ballet dancer with American Ballet Theatre (under my maiden and formal name, Careen Hobart). I moved from Los Angeles to New York City at the age of 15 to pursue my goal of becoming a professional ballet dancer. At the age of 16, I was hired by then-director Mikhail Baryshnikov to join ABT. While there, I danced soloist roles in Don Quixote, Swan Lake Giselle, La Bayadere, Sinfonietta, Coppelia, Rite of Spring, among others. Later, I enjoyed a Broadway career with Phantom of the Opera in New York. More recently (in my second life), I earned a Bachelor's degree in Art History from Columbia University. In 2004, after moving back to California, I met my husband, got married, and shortly thereafter had 2 baby boys. My family and I live in a quiet suburb of Los Angeles. These days, my life revolves around school, playing with my boys, sports classes, party planning, cooking and more. When I have a little time, I like to read, decorate the house and create. We take frequent out-of-town trips, even though we live in two of the most ideal locations in the country.
